316L Stainless Steel Pipe

Water-line pipes

316L stainless steel pipe features reduced carbon content (max 0.03%) compared with standard 316, which minimizes carbide precipitation in welded joints and makes it ideal for applications requiring maximum corrosion resistance after welding. The material delivers superior corrosion resistance versus 304 grades, particularly in chloride-bearing environments, and retains useful strength at temperatures up to about 1000 degC. Typical applications include chemical processing, food and beverage production, water treatment plants and pharmaceutical equipment, where rust resistance and long-term reliability in aggressive environments are critical. Chemistry is controlled to Cr 16-18%, Ni 10-14% and Mo 2-3%, ensuring the duplex-style passive layer that defines 316L performance.
