ASTM A179 is a cold-drawn low-carbon seamless steel tube engineered for heat exchangers, condensers and similar tubular heat-transfer equipment. The material is broadly equivalent to Chinese grade No. 10 high-quality carbon steel and offers good weldability together with predictable mechanical performance. Specified minimum yield strength is 180 MPa with a minimum tensile strength of 325 MPa and elongation of at least 35%, ensuring adequate strength and toughness during service. With a carbon content held between 0.06% and 0.18%, the tube is well suited to applications where thermal conductivity, tight dimensional tolerance and reliable seamless construction are essential to long-term plant performance.
